Living Compass on the Road

Are you looking for a speaker for your clergy day, retreat, or diocesan convention?

The Rev. Dr. Scott Stoner, the creator of the Living Compass Ministry and the director of the Nicholas Center in the Diocese of Chicago, is available to speak for clergy days, clergy retreats, and as a keynote speaker for diocesan conventions.

Scott, an Episcopal priest of over thirty years and a licensed marriage and family therapist, has created the Living Compass Wellness Ministry for the Episcopal Church. He believes that churches are the original centers of healing and wellness, as Jesus was a healer, over and over again. Living Compass is a ministry that Scott and his team have created to help churches reclaim this identity in the 21st century.

If Scott were to come to your area, he would share his thoughts regarding the connection between wellness and the church and how he believes that churches becoming wellness centers can revitalize the Church. Scott, known for his sense of humor and ability to connect with his audience, delivers extremely relevant and inspiring content. A worthwhile day is guaranteed.

How can we introduce the Living Compass Ministry to the parishes in my area?

The Living Compass team offers Living Compass mini-retreats and workshops that introduce Living Compass wellness concepts and ministry components to the parishes in your area. The purpose of these workshops is to demonstrate the importance of wellness in Jesus's ministry and to demonstrate to parishes how they can help promote and support adult, parent, and/or teen wellness on a parish-wide level.

These visits are also a chance for church leaders to experience Living Compass through the retreat experience and to learn how to use and implement the materials in context. Many churches have used a speaker event to kick off this new ministry in their community.

* It is recommended that several churches in one area collaborate to present this event together.

1. The Living Compass Mini-Retreat (2 1/2 hours recommended)

A mini retreat serves two purposes.

The first is to provide your community with time that will help them restore, renew and re-energize their spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical wellness.

The second purpose is to introduce the Living Compass whole person wellness program and to lift up anyone who may be interested in leading a Living Compass ministry. The focus of this introduction can be on individuals, families, parents, teens, or a combination of them all. Each participant will take the Living Compass Self-Assessment. With this assessment each person will receive the tools to create their personal "map" for growth and change.

Participants will also be introduced to a variety of spiritual practices. A creative balance of fun and education is the key to helping people discover and rediscover the abundant life that God desires for them, and it starts here with this mini-retreat.

A mini-retreat is usually presented on Saturday morning or mid-afternoon on Saturday.

2. Living Compass Train the Trainers Workshopt (2 hours recommended)

This workshop is specifically designed for those people, lay or clergy, who are interested in running a Living Compass ministry. It is important that facilitators also attend the mini-retreat to provide a hands-on, more personal understanding of Living Compass. A thorough explanation of how to best use the Leader Manuals and materials will be given. Living Compass materials will be available for examination and purchase.

3. Sunday Morning Options
