Vacancy at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac County

Position Description:   

Under general supervision, this position operates the centralized power plant as the only employee on shift and is responsible for complete operation of a full range of equipment used in the generation of steam heat by high pressure gas fueled boilers; performs other maintenance duties as assigned. Position perform duties such as: Adjust controls to provide correct operating level/conditions. Monitor control systems and watch for changes in pressures, temperatures, steam flow, air flow, water levels, etc. Take readings from charts, meters, gauges, etc., record information, maintain logs and records. Operate and service auxiliary equipment. Test water for chemical treatment, and adjust dosage of chemicals to maintain proper level. Maintain and clean all power plant equipment.  The position may require the ability to work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures (heat and cold); wear a OSHA approved respirator, frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds, and may require overtime or weekend shifts.

Position Description:   

This position is responsible for mechanical system maintenance, which includes maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, food service equipment; and minor repairs and maintenance of appliance, plumbing and electrical equipment, minor construction of wood and masonry projects. Perform a variety of maintenance and repair work on complicated and intricate equipment in the areas of power plant. Also for fabrication of metal projects as assigned, this includes welding and sheet metal work. This position requires the ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding or hydraulic lifts. Also, the ability to work under unpleasant conditions such as dirty and dusty areas, extreme cold/heat and small or confined spaces. Moderate to heavy lifting will be required.
