Starting annual salary for employees new to State Service will be $39,125 plus a $1.00 to $2.00 add-on based on your AODA credential and includes a comprehensive State of Wisconsin benefits package. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is hiring Treatment Specialist 1 - Substance Abuse Counselors to fill vacancies within our facilities around the state. https://doc.wi.gov/Pages/Home.aspx# Position Summary: provide individual, group, and family counseling and guidance to explore problems and discuss alternative solutions in keeping with treatment modalities conduct assessments both individually and as part of a team develop policies and procedures, program components, and specific activities to achieve program goals provide information to inmates regarding services, rights, responsibilities, policies, rules, etc. in conjunction with treatment staff and other DOC staff, develop, implement, and monitor case plans establish and coordinate community service projects assess individual inmate's reintegration, restorative justice, job readiness, and relapse prevention plan develop specialized treatment plans and provide individual interventions document progress with written reports Special Notes: AODA Certification by possession of, or eligibility to obtain upon appointment, SAC-IT, SAC or CSAC from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. The Department of Corrections will perform a criminal background check on all applicants prior to hire. Upon hire, all new employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employmentApplicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. Qualifications: � treatment techniques related to alcohol and drug problems. � drugs of abuse and their physiological effects. � research and evidence based alcohol and drug treatment. � effects of alcohol and drugs in human beings. � dynamics of human relations. � interviewing techniques. � problem identification and solving techniques. � culturally different values (cultural awareness). � criminal justice system. � community resources. � effective planning principles, practices and techniques. � skill in administering and interpreting assessment instruments. � techniques for facilitating group and individual counseling. � investigation procedures.
