Consider the field of correctional nursing! The Department of Corrections is seeking LPN's to work in limited term employment positions, with potential vacancies occurring throughout the state. Temporary jobs are referred to as limited term employment (LTE). While limited term employment does not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, these positions provide valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about different career options at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.Application materials will be accepted on a continuous basis. Position Summary: Perform health care services to incarcerated offenders in ambulatory and infirmary settings, which requires skilled technical care. This includes routine daily care of acutely ill and/or disabled patients, assisting in assessment of patient health needs, performing activities of daily living, making observations and reporting to a RN, assisting physician with physical exams, routine diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, maintaining records, and providing emergency care. Special Notes: Applicants must be a Wisconsin resident and possess a current Wisconsin LPN license to be eligible for this position.Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens.Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have experience in general patient care and current nursing procedures, the ability to assess patients by making accurate observations of signs and symptoms for a wide range of injuries and illnesses, the ability to perform effectively in emergency situations, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
