The starting pay will be between $66,747 and $80,267 per year, plus excellent benefits. First vacancy: Columbia Correctional Institution, Portage, WI (Columbia County). The register created from this recruitment will be used to fill future Corrections Unit Supervisor vacancies throughout the State for the next 6 months. This is a new recruitment (scores from previous exams may not be reused; all interested candidates must apply or reapply by completing all required application materials on-line). Position Summary: This position is responsible for the security, treatment, and general living conditions of all inmates assigned to the unit. The unit manager is responsible for all activities within the unit; develops, implements, and monitors overall institution goals, policies, and procedures as part of the institution management team. Special Notes: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment. Qualifications: Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in the following: Developing, implementing, and evaluating a program (such as security, treatment, clinical, social services, education, specialized programs, structured activities, etc.) Supervision or a leadership role (including, e.g., work plans; scheduling, assigning, directing work; hiring; conducting training, job coaching, performance evaluations, investigations, discipline, etc.) Organizational standards, policies, and procedures (e.g., development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. In addition, well qualified applicants will have experience: Facilitating multi-disciplinary teams or approaches in the development, implementation and review of programs.
