OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

POSITION OVERVIEW: Provides medical care within the approved medical protocols to employees In the event of Illness and/or injury, and is responsible for accurate medical documentation, including incident reporting, charting and OSHA record keeping. Works with the Safety Department to ensure a safe, healthy and compliant work environment for all employees. Works with Human Resources to support FMLA and short term disability. Communicates with management at all levels to ensure employees with restrictions are returned to work In a safe, timely manner. Conducts inspections of medical equipment to ensure It Is in good working order, and available for use.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Initially responds to/cares for injuries and illnesses on the Fond du Lac Campus. Assesses, evaluates and implements appropriate medical care both within the medical protocols and the scope of practice of the provider.Demonstrates ability to use all emergency/trauma supplies and equipment.Contacts the emergency medical service if emergent care is needed beyond what can be provided in plant.Documents all medical care and encounters in medical charting system.Generates incident investigation Initial reports (AIC) and submits for review.Maintains and updates OSHA record keeping.Maintains patient confidentiality as appropriate and in accordance with applicable law.Assists and supports Safety, Human Resources and Disability Management functions.Provides medical training to employees as needed and as required for compliance.Ensures all medical equipment is updated and functional, with adequate Inventory andsupporting documentation. Responsible for ordering medical supplies as needed.Follows all medical protocols set forth by the Mercury Marine Medical Director.Provides and/or coordinates training to other medical staff as needed to ensure they maintain current and up to date skills.Coordinates occupational health screening as directed by department management.Provides AED, CPR and BBP training to employees on the emergency response teams.Makes routine visits in the plant to check on employees as needed and to perform equipment checks, for example, AED's.Participates in incident Investigations, job evaluations, event debriefings and other activities as requested and directed by department management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Basic understanding of emergency and first aid care.General knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic testing and procedures, and normal parameters of vital signs.Understands disease pathology of the human body. Is able to make an educated decision on what path of care an employee needs to follow in order for his/her medical needs to be met.Understanding of the medical process as It applies to emergency and first aid care.Working knowledge of health programs available to employees.Knowledge of medical/clinic facilities.Knowledge and ability to document medical information accurately.Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.Working knowledge of Worker's Compensation.Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements as it relates to reporting and record keeping.Ability to communicate and work with diverse personalities while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions.Ability to independently make accurate decisions, while understanding when consultation is needed.Ability to perform duties independently.Ability to make independent Judgement regarding medical issues.Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and to ensure accuracy in documentation.Basic computer skills and data entry- (e-mall, Word, Excel)Able to present information to large groups.Able to walk (and run as needed) to cover significant distances to assist personnel.Able to work at heights.Able to climb and descend stairs and ladders to access areas to assist personnel.Able to bend at neck and waist. Able to squat, kneel and crawl•and-get into awkward positions If necessary to assist personnel.Ability to reach floor to waist, waist to shoulder and above shoulder level as needed.Able to lift and maneuver personnel as needed, depending on the situation.Able to lift medical equipment (oxygen tanks, totes, medical bags) to respond to emergency situations.Able to drive emergency medical cart in a safe manner.Flexibility in working alternate shifts and to provide coverage on night/weekend shifts as needed to support business requirements.Willingness and desire to increase skills and knowledge, especially in the industrial setting.Willingness and ability to respond throughout the Fond du Lac Campus if the need arises.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The following qualifications/certifications will be considered for the occupational health position, depending on overall department staffing needs:

State of Wisconsin licensed nurse (L.P.N. and/or R.N.)State certified ParamedicState certified Emergency Medical Technician (basic or advanced)State certified Medical AssistantState certified First ResponderA minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a medical setting, preferable emergency medicine and/or medical clinic.Certification In CPR/AED for the health professional.Experience with occupational medicine or related setting is preferred.
