Description

This recruitment will be used to fill future part time vacancies that may occur within the next twelve (12) months. Provide care and supervision for all juveniles in placement. Examples of Duties: Provide care and supervision for all juveniles in placement. Effectively and consistently implement all policies and house rules. File runaway reports as necessary. Keep track of appointments for residents, providing transportation as necessary. Accurately maintain written daily log on each resident. Staff is responsible for overseeing/preparing all meals, including menu planning for well balanced meals. Supervision of all chore assignments and homework on a daily basis. Staff are expected to assist residents as necessary during study hours. Organize, coordinate and supervise outings and recreational activities. Supervise periodic drug testing of residents. Make purchases of food and other items as necessary. Maintain accurate records of all disbursements, following agency procedures. Intervene and mediate arguments and fights between residents. Appropriately call law enforcement as necessary to maintain order and discipline within the facility. Checking and routine maintenance of runaway, smoke and heat alarms. Carry and immediately respond to pager as necessary. Act as liaison between facility and parents, school, police and other outside resources and the public. Complete discharge summaries and change of placement forms. Hourly bedchecks Keep track of supplies. Determine weekly allowance for each resident. Maintain individual evaluation sheets. Get residents up at a proper time in the morning. Other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications: Ability to accurately maintain records. A capacity to work with people from diverse backgrounds and value systems in a supportive, non-judgmental manner. Ability to perform duties following verbal or written instructions. Graduation from High School or equivalent. No physical limitation that impairs mobility or restricts ability to carry out any job function. Ability to understand and comply with all confidentiality requirements. Time management skills. Ability to learn and utilize methods of non-violent confrontation and defusing of potentially violent situations. Ability to develop a fundamental knowledge of social problems, child development and the problems of adolescence. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other staff and other community agencies. Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Ability to work under a great deal of stress. A valid driver's license Supplemental Information: Some post High School education in child development, psychology, teaching or other human service field. Experience in dealing with adolescents as a counselor, supervisor or a similar capacity. Knowledge and/or training in AODA issuesProvide care and supervision for all juveniles in placement.
