Overview

This position is responsible for leading a team of Process Engineers focused on improvement of new products and processes in the manufacturing operation.  He or she will manage projects, process improvement activities and implement best practices to optimize performance in all aspects of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project team to improve overall process performance
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing practices to improve processes and reduce cost
  • Drive a disciplined team-based problem-solving process to eliminate issues
  • Manage projects objectives, timing, cost, delivery expectations and status reports
  • Create process documentation that enhances the quality system effectiveness
  • Conducts Value Analysis and documents Standard Work practices
  • Provide customer-focused engineering resources for other departments
  • Provide teamwork to design, install, pilot, and launch robust processes
  • Develop specifications and evaluate supplier quotations of new equipment
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing ALS procedures
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
  • Review/oversee technical aspects of projects, and contractor bids through project coordination meetings
  • Develop project scorecards and maintain accurate records and all other elements of projects in the electronic database

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 2-4 years engineering project experience in a metal manufacturing environment (preferred)
  •  Lean manufacturing with positive track record of implementation

 Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures, workplace safety, and management techniques
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment and is flexible. He/she should able to multitask effectively and exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; sets goals and objectives
  • A detail-oriented person who generates creative solutions; Translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify and apply designs
  • Define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions
  • Knowledge of equipment and systems appropriate to the related discipline
  • Applies engineering principles and procedures in a skillful manner
  • Shows skill in engineering design applications
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • The desire to strive for personal and operational excellence through a never-ending drive for continuous improvement
  • Committed to achieving world-class performance standards

 

 Education:

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or combined related experience required
  • Lean manufacturing training desired

 Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting
